Anyways, is the bypass wiring only, or does the speed mod in the end of that thread work to solve these issues.

Attach the mute wire and parking brake wire to either the black ground wire on the radio.

Hey there. I had the same issue. I also had the problem that it looks like the upgrade was not done to the unit. Do you have the blue dot on the unit and the box it came in?

If not that might be the problem as well.

The update has nothing to do with blocked out features. His unit isn't bypassed.
