Greetings,

Just picked up a DV400 only to upgrade to a new F700 a day later.

Either way, this site rocks and has TONS of valuable information. An incalculable amount of time has been saved :)

I have installed a LapTop w/ Wireless Hi-Speed Card into my center console (for Hard Drive, Internet, Streaming Music, DVDs, etc) along with Wireless Mouse and Keyboard.

This LapTop outputs video to a 15" monitor under my dash which works great (VGA).. now here is my question.

I want to use the internet on my F700. I have tried using an S-Video to RCA converter with no luck. I cannot get the unit to display the screen. Does not having the "Hack Mod" disable this for some reason? Would it be better to use a splitter and 2 VGA to RCA Converters?

If not, is there some sort of windows setting to enable video output from the S-Video output?

Thank you guys!

Arnie

Yes, not having the motion lockout bypassed will keep any video (including the rear AV input) from being displayed unless the car is not moving and the parking brake is on.

You also have to make sure that you have the secondary monitor enabled in the display properties on the laptop. Also, I'm not 100% sure, but I think you can not make a secondary (external) monitor operate as the primary monitor with a laptop so the F700 would not display the start menu or icons that are on the laptop's screen... unless it has a "clone" setting where the same thing is displayed on both monitors. That depends on the computer.

Hey guys!

Finally finished installing the Laptop/Monitor in the ride. I can view the PC on either the Monitor or the Head Unit (even simultaneously).

I had to press Function-F4 to get the external VGA and S-Video connections to work.

Camera mount is complete and now I just need to secure it.

I'll get some photos in the day tomorrow..

BTW, the F700 is now $579.99 at Al an Eds auto. Nice price drop from $850.00!

Thanks!
