Z1 install..

Guys, I have a brain fart.

I had my z1 nav in my old car, and had taken it out before trading it in..

Now, here I think, I made a mess:

1) forgot to pull the harness

2) I had to leave my satellite antenna on the car, it was molded on to the body.

First question, SHOULD I have any harness aside from the vehicle specific harness? I looked at the Pioneer's web site and there is some harness that is listed as "power and speaker wiring".

Do I need it?:)

basically, should it be

[head unit] -> [Pioneer harness] -> [Vehicle specific harness]->car

or

[head unit] -> [Vehicle specific harness]->car

?

2) Is there a way to test the antenna replacement I got? I bought it off of ebay... :?

Also, can anyone suggest what Ipod adapter do I need to be using, AND anyone had any experience installing Z antennas in g35 coupes? Where to put the receiver? Do I have to put it on the roof?

thank you.

You should have 4 Pioneer harnesses: Power Connector 1, Connector 2, RCA 1, and RCA 2.

[head unit] -> [Pioneer harness] -> [Vehicle specific harness]->car

You will have to power up the unit to test the GPS antenna.

I mount my GPS antenna under the dash, but you need to check your signal strength.

well, that sucks.. any idea where I can get the harnesses? I would rather not be spending close to 250$ in wiring ordering everything directly from Pioneer..

They can be found on eBay, but they are not cheap...

If I understand right, i will need:

CD-IB100II Ipod interface - 50$

CDE8084 CORD ASSY (RCA OUTPUT II) 16P - 38$

CDE8083 CORD ASSY (RCA INPUT I) 20P - 45$

CDE8082 POWER W/SPEAKER CORD ASSY 34$

what is the part # for the second power connector?

here is the list of all available ones, i think..

bottom point is I have only antenna and a mic left.. I need to get all the other wires, i suppose.. :x

Oops, you are correct. Only 3 harnesses. You may not need the RCA connectors, depending on what you are connecting.

The odds are - i'll need the RCAs for the sub anyway, so might as well get them. Just sucks that I didn't think to check everything when I took the head unit out..
