I purchased a 250 gig USB powered hard drive thinking I could dump all of my music on that and play it through the USB connection on the head unit. When I plug it in, the hard drive light comes on, so it's getting the power it needs, but the head unit does not recognize it.

Does it need to be formatted in any particular way? I just formatted it using NTFS. Or does it not support storage devices that large?

there are a ton of other post about this, Fat 32 is what it needs to be formatted as. Search out the other post and see what they say.
