I know that the factory stereo get's it's speed data from the CAN-BUS, but I've heard that there is another source that can be used as a secondary location for some of the COMAND systems that doesn't use the CAN-BUS connection, I've just not gotten confirmation of where it is.

Has anyone installed any AVIC-Z1/D1/D2 in a 2001-2006 C-Class mercedes?

If so, do you have the VSS wiure connected? If not, how off is the tracking?

Is it worth it to put the Z1 in without the VSS connection?

I would connect the VSS for dead reckoning (I think the Z1 has that). Good luck!

Thanks for the help, but that didn't match my car.

The Z1 tracks very well without the VSS wire, so I'm not having any issues yet with tracking. Radio reception on the other hand is horrible!

Anyone with Mercedes (2001-2004) C Class know how to solve a poor radio reception issue after the stock stereo is replaced?
