Why do web sites like crutchfield.com say that the Z1 does not fit in my '02 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. I measured the din in my car it is exactly 4"by 6"

Yeah...crutchfield does that alot....at least for me.
Probably because of incorrect data. They said a D2 wouldn't fit in my car, but it fits great

The '02 Sport Trac is technically not a DD size opening. Although some have made DD units fit in thier opening by trimming some of the opening and by the use of an adapter kit. Check out the forums at http://www.mysporttrac.com Post your question over there and they will be more than happy to help you out, or try the search on the site.
