Are there alot of people having problems with the flex ribbon cable on the AVIC-Z3 ? I called pioneer today since it was having problems and they told me to send it in so they can check and replace the ribbon cable. They acted like this has been a problem and they are fixing them for free even if its not under warranty. Anyway just wondering what is going with this.

The person you spoke to probably was confusing the N and Z series. Very common on the N1-3

how do you check it?

You can probably see it underneath with the screen open. You can try jiggling it and see if the screen flickers.

There is no wide spread issue with the flex ribbon cable, but whenever your screen is having issues, its something to look at.

Its very thin and fragile so I wouldn't just go ahead and wiggle it but visually inspect it first and lift the tabs off before removing it because if you remove it while it is attached, you will damage it.
