Help!
I finally found the time to install a new Z2 into my 08 Chevy Trailblazer. The truck has Onstar. I also wanted the XM and NavTraffic, so I bought the GEX-P10XMT module. The factory radio is a Bose, so I'm guessing that I have the amp. I bought the following PAC modules: OS2-Bose, CM-1 for Chimes and the SWI-PS for steering wheel control. I've followed all the directions and pretty sure I made all of the wiring connections (except for the backup sensor, which I'll get to later).
Everything seems to be working fine - except for the sound. When I hit the phone icon for Onstar on my rearview mirror, I can very faintly hear output in the dash speakers. The Z2 does power down when Onstar kicks in, and resumes when I end the Onstar call. This is the only audio output I can get.
The CD player recognizes audio disks and shows that it is playing, but nothing can be heard.
Do I need to connect the blue antenna wire from the Z2s power harness to the OS2Bose module? I do not have a power antenna, so right now it is not connected. There is no mute on the original head unit, and no controls for mute on the steering wheel, so I have left the brown OS2-Bose wire intact and looped back into the OS2-Bose connector.
I did read something here about turning the Antenna in Settings from Radio to Power, but that does not fix the sound.
One other observation I noticed is that the Onstar LED on the OS2-Bose PAC lights up for only the briefest moment when I connect it up. After that, it remains unlit. Is this normal? Is my OS2-Bose module defective? I have also disconnected the steering wheel module for now until I can get some kind of sound, so the SWI-PS is currently not a factor. Normally, the steering wheel control plugs into the wired remote connection, right? The PAC directions were not crystal clear on this...
Also, the factory FM antenna male plug is smaller than the standard female socket on the Z2. Could this be a factor? Is there an adapter out there?
I am ready to bypass (with the already downloaded ISO file found here), but will wait until this sound problem is fixed. Do I still need to ground the two wires after running the bypass disk?
I'm really stuck.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance to any and all who can help me out with any of this.
Thanks
Dave
