Grounding Parking Brake Question

I have seen AVIC Z1 hack threads all over, mentioning the need to ground the parking brake as part of the bypass.

Is this accomplished by simply grounding the light green parking brake wire on the AVIC Z1 connector? Or, is there some other method I need to use with regards to grounding the parking brake?

Thanks.

yes, I am aware of the varioud methods depending on the manufacture date...mine was 7-06

What I want to know is if grounding the parking brake means simply grounding the wire labeled "parking brake" from the Z1 connector?

yep thats it. I also have the july unit. I just spliced the parking brake wire and the new wire from the connector and grounded them both to the same place. works like a champ..

As long as we are asking questions, what is the cell phone hack? And which wire is the cell phone mute wire off of connector #1?

the cell phopne hack is just the new bypass for the post july units. And people are really getting hung up on the cell phone part of it. all you need to do is take ANY wire you are not using from any connector and put it into connector #2 in the bottom right slot and ground it and also ground the parking brake wire. And boom, your zi is bypassed. the cell phone mute wire has no significance. its just a wire that alot of people dont use.

I got the car back from the sealer and the bypass works great. Thanks to all for that. :D
It opened everything up. Navigation to settings and phone calls. This is the way the thing should work out of the box. :?
Bad new is that they still don't have the parking brake wire right and it still doesn't dim when I turn on the lights.

Some things may have to be done at home.

I think language may be a problem.

Actually if all the features work, then your parking brake and second wire ground works fine.

If it doesn't dim then the problem is you ILLUMINATION wire. That has to go to your car's ILL wire or at the very least, to a point in your car which goes to 12V with the lights on.

I was thinking that if the parking brake wire wass left unhooked that the warnig wouldn't shpw up.

Thanks

Technically that's true but then you wouldn't have access to all the features.

If you ground the parking brake and then drive around, the parking brake warning message will show up and the unit will still lock you out of all the features when you move. The connector 2 wire grounded will keep that message from showing up and allow the features to remain even though you are moving.

i only have a message when i first start my truck and go to the nav screen. i click ok once and i never see it again. I have noticed however that the pop up message that makes you click ok is laid on top of the nav screen. its not there instead its just on top of the screen. if we can find that file on the hd, then we may be able to either delete it all together or change the opacity of it to zero so we could not see it. justa few thoughts
