My bluetooth works flawlessly and sounds great, I edited my contacts list so VR works flawlessly with my iPhone3g, since changing from the pioneer video cable to the Apple one I haven't had a single drop-out, and my nav is great with the cancel route button hack.

Hopes of a boot up that saves me a few seconds and marginally better button response doesn't sound like enough for me to chance messing up how great this unit has become to me.

Voice recognition has nothing to do with the cable used to connect the iPod to the F-Series.

The apple composite cable works perfect with the f series. I also used it with the iphone 3g and there is no issues. In fact I was having issues with the iphone 3g charging with the f series ipod cable. But with the apple one it charges as well.

I suggest buying the apple one if you don't want problems. Several people have had bad luck with the pioneer one and it's not even considered generic. I would most definitely recommend against generic china made garbage. Especially since, from my experiences, apple product have a history of not working very well with the chinese made goods
