As anybody tried to get and install a flash chip maybe 4 or 8Gb, are they available and can they be installed easily. With the new LeetLauncher I think this would be the ultimate AVIC. If available what would they sell for?

I'd be interested to see a little more on this, but depending on how the hardware is setup, this could be a major mod.

I'm not really sure why this would be of interest though, because storage size of the F-Series isn't currently an issue (and extra storage space won't really do anything for you).

well we need someone who has an extra headunit.... maybe a bricked unit someone doesnt want lol open it up and look around at its insides...

With a larger flash chip I think The HU would run faster and be able to hold more info like TTS, map etc... I'd just like to know if someone in the forum knows anythig about this.

My guess is that the memory chips are hardwired into the board. It would take someone with rock solid hands to attempt the soldering. With that in mind, the entire operating system may be based around a set amount of RAM, so increasing it may not matter. The only way to know, would be to try or talk to a tech(Who worked on the units design). Not sure many people would be willing to brick their unit in order to "find out".

i agree but i have upgraded chips on my modems before surfboard 5100 to give more memory and its a pita but its doable :/ but yea the risk of bricking isnt worth it
