Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can I use a Pioneer CD Changer with the F-Series?

A. No, the F-Series does not support the IP-Bus protocol for CD Changers, so it's not possible to control a Pioneer changer from the interface of the F-Series. Click here for more information.

Q. What wireless remote control can I use with my F-XXXBT?

A. The F-Series units do not have an infrared receiver, however PAC audio has the WRI-P which will add this capability to the wired input and allow you to use the various Pioneer remotes with the unit. You can also use Sony's RM-X4S wired remote with the F series.

If your vehicle has steering wheel mounted controls you can use a wired adapter from one of many aftermarket companies to connect those controls to your F-Series. Click here for more information.

Frequently Asked Questions

If your vehicle does not have steering wheel controls, Sony's RM-X4S works with the F-Series.

Thank you! Is there a more steering wheel friendly control that works with the F-Series?

It will play off a ipod, usb or sd without modification. But, you need to modify hardware or software to bypass a safety feature for viewing while in motion.

am I missing something or does that link take you to a page about different phones and the bluetooth? If someone could post the link to the page about the steering wheel controls or let me know what I'm doing wrong I would appreciate it. Thanks

so just to make sure I did my homework properly, to install my F7010BT in an 03 suburban with boes and steering wheel controls in order to get the steering wheel controls to work I need to buy a PAC SWI-PS? I'm told I also have to get another wiring harness to keep the door chim and onstar, but I don't care about the door chim and don't pay for onstar so it not working isn't a problem. That said, my local installer said that to even get the boes speakers to play music I have to have that extra wiring harness. Is this true?

yes it is true, i have an 05 yukon and i bought the metra axxcess harness with onstar...even though i dont use onstar....but this helped me enable using the bose system with the avic otherwise you have to tap into the speaker wires(which is a pain the ass to find....and yes the pac swi-ps also enables you to use the steering wheel controls to control the avic

Sorry to sound like a Noob (learning very fast!) - but just to confirm, I can directly plug in a Sony RM-X4S into the back of my AVIC-F910BT?

Do I lose any functionality on the remote?

Thanks in advance

I have purchased a used F700 bt for my '07 Tundra. I have read damn near every post on firmware upgrades and mods and my question is who in the Westchester/NYC/ Jersey area has the time and patience to install some of these upgrades for a small fee? I am positive I don't want to attempt these on my own. Please help!

Hello everyone! new to the forum but not new to avic411... Been out of the loop for a while now for 3 yrs, the time of my overseas work contract. Now that I'm back in Quebec and specially after last weekend's trip State side, I realized I needed map updates... Naturally I came here, aside from being all over google's top searches... I was wondering if a mod or the OP would be able to recheck the links in 1st post as they have changed. I won't post my issue here because I want the read/education, have a chance to take a crack at my unit and if sh!t hits the fan... well, I'd ask the questions :P

Do everything through Windows emulation.

Are the x920bt and f920bt totally different units?

Posted Sep 02, 2014 · 14:34 UTC#23

No, exactly the same unit. Only difference is the X is US and the F is Euro.

Posted Jun 04, 2016 · 19:17 UTC#24

what is the difference between the GEX-P10HD and GEX-P20HD?  The latter is referenced for the F700BT but will the P10HD work?  What is lost if it is used instead of the P20HD?

Hi, I'm new to the Forum, I would like to take some doubts, please, my device is the AVIC-F980BT Firmware: 1.07

1 - Is it possible to change this image? I just can not change the first one I could not:

2 - Is it possible to delete this warning?

https://imgur.com/wjoNbeF

3 - I use Android Auto along with Galaxy S7 Edger but only works with the original cable ... can not use another cable?

Thank you and I'm sorry I broke any rule.
