Hi all, I just recently purchased the avic f700 and installed it successfully with the wire bypass and everything works perfect. I also purchased pioneer ipod cable.

Defects:

does not read any of my sd cards

IPOd sound only plays on one side of the speakers

I am using micro sd cards with sd adapter. Should that be an issue? SHould I try a regular sd card?

This is preventing me from updating my firmware to hopefully fix the ipod issue.

All products were purchased from a big retailer brand new so I dont know if it's a faulty cable or buggy firmware.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I am frustrated and regret buying this unit.

You can't use the Micro SD adapter. I tried this when I tried to upgrade, no go! Get a real SD or SDHC card.

I'd try returning the cable you bought.

Chech the RCA plug on the back of the deck, for your balance problem. One or more of the pins has probably slipped out of its socket. I am not the only one that has had this problem.

Totally incorrect and wrong information. I ONLY use a micro-SD adapter in mine and it works perfectly as long as all SD cards are formated FAT32.

I thought of that too, but doesnt the ipod send music signal through usb cable since its playing audio not the video? I tried using a usb and it works with it so it's either loose pin, faulty cable, and/or software.

Everytime I play music through the usb and choose the map the song skips when the car moves. This unit reacts very slowly.

I am also able to use a microSD card with adapter without any issues, formatted FAT23.

No, AVIC uses USB only for iPod control, it gets all AV through RCA connectors, so if one side is not playing most likely one of RCAs is not connected...

UPdate**

I uploaded the firmware successfully. Now the unit runs so much better. I also updated the bluetooth then when I went to upload the tts, it freezes like others have the same problem.

I will check the easy stuff first. I will connect a different a/v to see if that has the same problems and then from there on I will know if its the ipod cable or loose pins. If the sound problem is the same then i'll know that it's the pins.

oh ok so its the pins then? SHould I even question the ipod cable at all?

I checked and rechecked and the rca cables are plugged in properly.

Just reverse the left and right rca plugs. If the sound is still dead on that same side, it would be the deck, which I highly doubt.

I'll try that and I'm also trying to delete those tts files to restore them hopefully.
