Z3 and iPhone

I recently installed the ND-BT1 module in my Avic-Z3 and can't get it to work with my iPhone 2g. The iPhone recognizes the Z3 just fine, but refuses to link up, while the Z3 can't even locate the iPhone.

Is the ND-BT1 not compatible with the iPhone?

Is there a workaround for it?

If the ND-BT1 isn't compatible, is there another BT module that's compatible with the Z3?

Should I firebomb Apple for being a bunch of proprietary douchebags...?

additional info: bt is enabled on iphone. bt works just fine with the wife's Sony Ericsson walkman phone.

I also have the 1st gen iPhone, and the same bluetooth module for the Z3.

I just had the Z3 installed last Friday... I had the same problem initially. The way I finally got it to accept was to reset the Z3 bluetooth password.

Initially, I tried to enter 0000 and 1234, but they never worked. So, I went into the units bluetooth menu (I think it is in the same screen where you select "Register" to try and get your phone to connect), and just changed the password to "0000".

Then, I believe when you select "register" on the Z3, there are 2 methods listed. I think I used the method where I let the phone find, and connect (entered the Z3 PW on the phone). I went to the iPhone "Bluetooth" area in "settings", waited for the phone to find the stereo, entered the password when prompted, and it finally connected.

Also, I removed all other Bluetooth connections on the iPhone before connecting.

Sorry I couldn't be more precise... I tried so many things before I got it working, it's all a bit cloudy. But it does work.

i researched that and was hoping that it would work, but for some reason, when i try to connect using the iphone, i don't even get the option to enter the passkey. I just says it can't connect.

the other option (connecting from the Z3) doesn't work either as the Z3 doesn't even recognize the phone as a source.

i'll try it with a friends 1st gen iphone and see what happens.

and....i'm stupid.

friend pointed out that i needed to hit the mobile device key on the Z3 and THEN try to pair the iphone with it. I was thinking that it would do it automatically.

problem solved and the iphone works perfectly now.

thanks.

I say you should do that just for grins... They deserve it :lol:

I've had my Z2 for about as long as I've had my 1st gen IPhone... And never had any issues...(besides the obvious of the contacts not getting transfered)

Now my Z2 has gone Z3 and it still works just fine, with both 1st and 2nd Gen(3G) Iphones....

Have you tried to do some resets on the Avic? Or maybe try to rename your Iphone to something else and re-sync... or even restore it...
