I have a question before I purchase my AVIC-Z1. I've searched and read the forum and read both manuals but I can't seem to figure out if the AVIC-Z1 will control the DEQ-P8000's Volume. Everyone seems to say no but then I can't understand why the DEQ-P8000 would even need the IP-Bus Cable.

I have a Cadillac Escalade ESV and want to be able to control the volume from the steering wheel or the AVIC-Z1 not the AXM-P8000.

I also plan on using the XDV-P6 which has an Optical Output also I believe, could I hook both up optically to the AVIC-Z1? Thanks!

The Z1 will NOT control the volume with the DEQ-P8000 installed. The installation doesn't utilize the IP-BUS interface, just the optical and analog outputs. I've tried hooking up the IP-BUS cable just to see what happens and nothing. You're stuck controlling the volume with the AXM-P8000 remote control.

One thing I haven't tried is whether the Z1 steering wheel remote can send the volume signal to the AXM-P8000.

The z1 can control the volume for the deq 8000, it has to connected in a different way. only when it is in digital mode you cannot use the z1s volume. This is how mines is connected. I have to look at my setup again so I can tell you how to connect it.

Do you have yours connected Analog also? If so is there any floor noise?

yes, I have mines connected analog,I used to have a little floor noise but that was taken care of by the installer.
