I started my truck after and noticed the message please insert the appropriate disc. I tried to clean the disc no luck. I have the 06 disc. I put in my old 05 disc and the system changed colors ( went to bright blue ) Received error incorrect disc. Went back to the 06 disc and the colors went to the 06 light steel blue but again same error "please insert the appropriate disc" I have not done a reset yet.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I am assuming the laser was damaged, or dirty. If possible try playing a music cd, dvd or any other cd based media to see if it works, if it doesn't work that confirms it, if it does work though bad dvd. I don't think you can go back to the old disc after updating to the new one, so it could be a bad dvd, you would have to varify it's clean and no scratches. Maybe try a lens cleaning disc.

Also make sure its not cold, or that its properly warmed up before trying, its possible fog is on the reading lens of the dvd reader, this happens when its cold and starts to warm up, just like your windows do and there is some moist hot hair from your breath.

If I do a master reset, take out the map disc and insert it again it will (most of the time) show the map again. As soon as I turn the truck off and restart it the "please insert appropriate disc error shows again" if in the nav mode. If in the stereo mode as soon as I hit map also same error? Could this be a bad map dvd? I have never taken it out so I do not understand why it would be broken?

If your not going to even read a reply post, then why bother posting again the same information?

I specifically said, try another disc as in a music cd or movie dvd to make sure the disc reader is working, I assume you haven't done that yet?

It sounds like your having a hardware failure, rule that out by uh trying another disc of some sort.

You are right, if the disc is never removed from the system, its probably not broken, so this once again points to a hardware failure.

cranbers if I put a dvd or cd disc in the lower slot will it not cause a issue with the unit. The D1 can not read a dvd movie & I was worried that if i place a music cd into it that it will cause a issue? The upper slot plays fine Sorry for the questions.

Sorry to snap at you, but if you want a good answer or troubleshooting tips, you need to provide relevent information, uh like what model you have, I assumed it was the D3 which does play movies and only has a sinlge slot.

If its the D1, then odds are its a laser pickup problem.

Call Pioneer and they will most likely suggest service.

Good luck, no other fix except to grab a new dvd map disc, a new one was released recently you can download it or go to pioneers website and buy it.
