I have a z2 that I want to test before i tear my dash apart for install,

is it possible to use a battery charger to power up the z2 while i test it?

 

In other words, hook up the acc and constant power wires to the + and the ground wire to the - of the battery charger, then set the charger on the lowest setting, turn on the z2 so I can test it and make sure it's all working ok.

Yes, but I don't know if the lowest setting will be good enough. I think you at least need 2-3 Amps for proper function. Possibly more if you plan to hook it up to speakers and crank it up.

 

I use a portable jump-starter to bench test car stereos and it works great. Computer power supplies work well too, but you have to short the green to black wires together on ATX style PC power supplies.
