AVIC-Z1 (upgraded with CNDV-800HD) is not tracking and the arrow is displaying bckwards to direction traveled. Also the system will not track as vehicle moves. .Was moved from 1998 Crown Vic and installed in a 2006 Crown Vic. System was fully functioning prior to changeover. Tried reset several times to no avail. All other features work okay. Although the system will not track, it does eventually show correct location when stopped for a few minutes. Also, the "North" pointer does not show north. When pressed, it does not display a reverse of N/S. WHen a destination is set, I get the red-line direct but does not compute or display route. Has anyone seen this before or have any thoughts?? I did check all settings several times but again to no avail. Thanks much for any help that might be out there.

I'm having a similar issue.

Mine came with the car and was working perfectly fine one day and got a little nutty the next.

It's pissing me off because sometimes I can drive for 20 minutes before it'll even start to figure itself out and display the right location.

(AVIC-Z1 with software upgrades to Z3). Problem solved. Evidently, through the combination of moving the unit from my 1998 Crown Vic to my 2006 Crown Vic, there was inappropriate or inaccurate navigation information written / stored on the hard drive in the user navigation settings area.

The issue was resolved by following the operators manual instructions (yes - reading the book is a good thing). Here is what I did (manual instructions follow with comments):

Completely returning the navigation system to the initial state

To return the entire navigation system to the default or factory settings, initialize the navigation system in the following order:

1 Press RESET button on the hardware.

2 Initialize the user data area on the hard disk drive.

3 Clear the learned data in the sensor.

1. Turn the ignition switch off (important step).

2. Press RESET button.

3. Start the engine. After a few moments, the start-up screen comes on for a few seconds.

4. Touch and hold MAP button while the start-up screen is displayed.

“Clear memory screen†appears.

5. Touch [Clear user information from hard disk]. NOTE: This reset operation clears all music data recorded in the music library. Note that the

cleared data cannot be restored.

6. Touch [Yes].

Also note that the address book and stored phone numbers remain (not sure why)

The user area in the hard disk drive is initialized.

After that, the navigation system restarts.

7. Press MENU button and then touch [settings].

The setting menu appears.

8. Touch [Hardware] and then touch [3D Calibration Status].

9. Touch [Learning Status] and then touch [Reset All].

It took about 15 minutes for the system to reaquire the GPS signals and re-establish the vehicle's position. All is well now and I hope this helps others with like issues. This certainly saved Pioneer's $200 flat fee for repairs.
