Ok i cannot find the reverse wire on my 04 silverado. I have tried numerous forums and have gotten lots of wrong information. Does anyone know for absolute fact where the reverse wire is located inside the cab?

ok i figured it out
you have to remove the bottom half of the dash and there are 5 harnesses. the farthest right, closest to the passenger side has only 3 wires. The farthest left or drivers side wire is light green. Thats the one. its is only hot when the key is in the run position and the truck is in reverse. Works like a champ. im gunna post pics on the general forum in a minute.

Won't help you out now, but it might help others. If a GM vehicle has the auto dimming mirror there is a reverse circuit wire that runs up the driver's A-pillar to the mirror. Usually this wire is brown.
The auto dimming mirror turns off when the vehicle is placed into reverse, that is why there is a reverse wire to the mirror.

that is a good tip anyway. its a little easier to take of the plastic a pillar than it is t take off the knee plate. but i was able to store all that extra wire down there .. 6 in one half dozen in the other i guess.
