Hey Guys,

I'm fairly new to this forum and have been trying to figure out how to fix my unit without sending it to Pioneer. FYI, I am by no means am I as technically or mechanically inclined as some of you but I'm good at following directions . So here's the story:

After updating to firmware 2.0 my unit's VR stopped working entirely. If i clicked the multi-function button the unit would just make a loud beep and that's it. I've tried resetting the unit every way noted in the manual and that hasn't worked. I decided to check the language settings. When I clicked the "language" menu button, the system froze and a window (like the one u see on a PC desktop running windows) popped up saying fatal application error and then the system rebooted. The unit continues to do this every time I click the language button.

I just called Pioneer and they said I need to remove the unit, ship it back to them and then reinstall it at my expense. The unit worked fine (although painstakingly slow as we all know) before the update. This seemingly being a software/firmware issue, I'm sure it can be fixed without removing the unit. I've seen some notes about wiping the flash drive but i'm not sure if that's the correct route to take.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I just had this problem with a customer yesterday. Did you also have a problem with a black screen at start up? we ended up swapping out the unit for the customer.

this doesnt solve your problem but you arent alone.

I also had the same problem. I was having a nervous breakdown since I have just baught the unit and have done nothing wrong to put the unit into this state.

The only mod I applied was to boot up into test mode, replace with modified Ezrider.exe and updated maps.

The blank screen was a killer. But I managed to solve it. The reason is for some strange reason the back camera function is enabled although there is none installed. Oddly the parameter reads neither on nor off but still awaits the camera voltage parameter settings.

What I've done was to reset the machine so that it could boot once since it bypasses all configurations. Then immediately entered system settings/back camera and clicked "off" to turn off the back camera option.

After turning off and back on the car, the device went back to normal.

However the language settings are still problematic and gives the fatal error and reboots. I'll try to fix this too soon but at least I can use my system now by solving the blank screen ill.

My question ia wherher any of you have tried to boot into test mode with the files from this forum. If yes than the mapdbinfo.txt file refers to voice and language files with the following parameters which I think is causing the problem:

BaseContents: content_v142

lang: lang_data_download_080630

voice: voice_data_download_080707

If only I have known what these values mean I could easily correct the language button problem too.

Anyone?

this is EXACTLY the problem I have had with 2 customers. blank screen, back up camera function neither set to ON or OFF, and then language problems after changing back up camera function to OFF.

word is that an internal Pioneer sales person also had this problem with his F900.

I too have this problem. When I go to the language screen I have English selected. For voice language it has Natasia. When I click Natasia the button highlights and the system freezes. Does anyone have a solution for this? I turned off the camera and still no go. Tried resetting. Pioneer told me to send it back. That's their answer for everything. I want to change the voice so I can get TTS.
