I'm in the process of installing the Avic-F90BT in a 08 Scion tC.

How do I route the bluetooth mic to the aux switch like in the image? (don't know what it's called)

I would assume if you drop the knee bolster that you could route it there quite easily.

Sorry if this is a little on the noobish side...but what is the purpose of routing the bluetooth mic to a switch?

My only guess is he wants to put the microphone where the blank switch panels are. I don't see why someone would want to put a switch on the mic.

yeah that was my thinking too...we'll see

The real question is - do you really want it there? In the manual, Pioneer stresses the importance of pointing the microphone directly at the driver so it can pick up more voice and less noise. This looks like it will point directly at your junk :)

its there purely for aesthetics. Its a nice, neat install. Might not provide the best function though

I had mine down there for a week when I just did a quick install. It was too near the speakers and even with the echo setting, it was feeding back a bit. Placed it up on the dash at the corner and everyone agrees they can hear me a lot better.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough. I wanted to route the bluetooth mic to one of the knock-outs so I have a clean look as well as being it hidden.

So I just got it routed and I've tested the voice recognition features and used the phone w/the mic. On the phone, I was glad the person on the other end said it sounds normal, just not as good as talking directly to the phone. To better the quality I had to lower the volume on the head unit during the call. For the VR, its an on and off thing. But I think that's not because of the mic placement but it's a problem in the VR software and everythingt. It definitely needs some work. I love the VR feature though, especially for me since I drive a manual car so it's convinient. I hope they improve it in the next firmware update as well as other bugs.

looks good, I will have mine on soon. If it picks up your voice pretty well right there, then it seems like an awesome spot to me. Was I right about how to get the wiring over to there?

Yea, it was pretty simple. I just wired it under the steering wheel wires and took out the pop-out to get access to one of the knock-outs and drilled a hole. Just couldn't reach the wire when I was doin it but eventually I did. For the hole that I drilled, I made a careless mistake and made it slightly bigger than needed so it's a little loose.

glad you got it all hooked up
