Is there a way to get any of the F-series units to output the navigation to an external screen while still having radio controls on it unit itself? I searched the forums for quite a while and can't find anything concrete. Any help would be appreciated!

that feature is not available and probably couldn't be hacked either; the vid output mimics only what is on the Avic's screen.. its not zonable

its not theory, whatever is on the main console is on vid out; no other way about it

I cant confirm this but I heard you cant even display the gps map on an external screen. If you had an external screen hooked up to the f-series you would only be able to view dvd's or whatever is playing in A/V.

That is correct.

It just puzzles me that these $1200 units dont have the simple features like Dual zoneing and RDS, where as cheap $300 units do have it. Sure I can live without either but you would think these things would be standard with such an expensive unit.
