I've come across with many users in the forum suffering from two serious AVIC software failures and I've managed to eliminate one and so close to the second one if gurus of this forum can provide a little help.

 

ILL1 - For some strange reason after booting into TESTMODE system hangs at the next boot showing a blank screen. Many users sent their AVIC to have them reflashed. Don't!

 

CURE: Reset system bypressing the reset button. System will boot once in such a "safe mode" with all the settings reset to factory settings. Go to settings, system settings, back camera. You'll notice that this option is neither set to ON or OFF but asks for parameters as it is ON. Just set it to off. Shutdown and restart the ignition. Your system is back to normal.

ILL2: Hhaving the "Fatal Exception Error" and a reboot of the system when trying to go into Language settings. I've also seen some of us suffering from this problem in the forum.

 

My initial thinking is the TESTMODE files from the forum is changing some values in the flash dsk which caused the problem. And the system message was not readible since it was rebooting rapidly to adress the possible moves to correct this.

 

HALFWAY CURE: Using the "Restore factory settings" option in the navigation settings screen solves half of the problem and lets you into the language settings with no reboot. I can change the system language and all of them work.

 

The only remaining problem is with the Voice files now where if I touch to change the voice option system freezes totally without giving the full voice language options.

 

In order to be able to solve this problem I have managed to hold the error message still on the screen with some backdoor moves.

 

It reads:

 

"Application systemsetting has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists contact the program vendor.

Address:01B799C0

 

The exception number highlights to a language ID problem which causes the reset and the freeze. The program systemsetting is in the APL director on the flas disk and is accompanied with a systemsettingres.res file which is the resource for that. By looking inside that I could not find a significant sign to the problem but I'm counting on gurus of the forum such as BorisM, Skicrave, Leetcoder, Hackz, bitman, catchmeifyoucan631 or any others out there to end this mysery for all AVIC users.

 

Any EW (European) model F900BT owners. If any of you who can boot into TESTMODE and not having this problem could you upload a copy of your working APL director somewhere where I can compare the differences.
