Is there a setting or mod perhaps that enables the guidance voice to "talk over" the music playing as opposed to muting it as it gives you directions

Look for "Switching the sound muting/attenuation.

really people, it's there, and you read the manual once, you'll know what sections to look at, so is our time less valuable then yours in looking it up for you? If you review the manual, you'll be able to assist others when they're lost.

Well put Diane. To the OP, please understand that we are not trying to be rude and not welcome your questions. Also understand that we have way too many useless post on this forum that cover the same topic over and over again when the answer could be found by reading the manual or searching the site. That being said, please dont hesitate to ask questions in the future if a search in the manual or the site did not turn up a solution.

For some reason, this button is greyed out for me in the settings menu. Any thoughts? Was I supposed to ground the mute wire?

turn your audio source to OFF and then see if its usable
