Where is the antenna? How many satellites are you picking up?

Posted Dec 22, 2008 · 09:14 UTC#3

dodgy connection? check your connector on the back of the deck.

Could be your location.

You may have to move you antenna..

Lack of description of the problem overwhelms me haha.

I think the equivalent post would be, I have a problem with my unit, can someone help me fix it?

The answer is no, not without more information.

All I can say is antenna antenna antenna.

The questin is, did it work before now it doesn't? Or has it never worked.

The antenna needs to be placed on the small metal plate that came with it or on something metal. See page 23 of the installation manual: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/Stati ... al0520.pdf

Try that first, then if it's still not working check the antenna connection on the back of the head unit, Light Grey on page 8 of the installation manual.

im still trying to catch up with the dude that install it for it.. becuz right now i dont have the metal sheet under my antenna. When he put it in he did not use it...i didnt pay any attention to it becuz my N2 did not really need it.

Posted Dec 31, 2008 · 03:49 UTC#11

does anyone think that this is the only thing causing my weak connection? if so is it possible that i can buy this metal sheet from somewhere else if i cant get back in contact with my guy or have something to substitue the place of it?

Posted Dec 31, 2008 · 08:22 UTC#12

Just stick something metal on your dash and stick the antenna to it. Drive around and see if it helps

Posted Dec 31, 2008 · 12:56 UTC#13

You could just stick it to the roof of your car for a temp solution, I personally never had an issue and its in my back window, with the metal plate.

Odds are you live in a very busy city with tall buildings, have a broken antenna, broken rear connector on the back of the unit, or the antenna is nto seated properly. Or a defective unit, pretty much what this is boiling down to. I have never seen so many issues, either user error or those mentioned above.

nope the metal sheet wasn't the solution people...so i guess im going to try to see if getting another antenna will solve it before getting a whole new unit!!! thanks for the help thus far :(

Nope Ladies and Gents the antenna was not the problem in fact not only did i swap out the antenna but i also put in a brand new unit and still i have the same problems...the only thing i can think of now is that it might be becuz my windshield is tinted. plz if anyone has anymore suggestions plz let me know... this is really becoming a headache to the point where i wish i still had my N2

Posted Jan 09, 2009 · 23:45 UTC#16

I'd be surprised if it was your tint. I have mine sitting on top of my f700 inside my dash and it works perfectly. If it can go through my hard plastic on my dash, I can't imagine tint would be a problem. But, it seems like you've tried everything else, so you got me. Good luck.

Try putting your antenna on your roof temporally. If it works then you know for sure it's the tint.

i will try and see what happens..if this doesnt work i dont know what will :?

im done people i have ran out of options...i dont know what else to do. ive tried changing my antenna..that didnt work. I swap out for a brand new unit....that didnt work. Now i THOUGHT since i had tint on my windshield so i figured i had to put the antenna outside the car.NOW i just found out that that isnt even the case. im still getting "GPS signal is lost" so im all out of answers. i dont even know where to turn from here.

does the antenna work outside the car such as stuck to the roof? you might want to keep it there if it does or untint your glass which i dont see how that would cause the issue but so be it

Is it possible that you are not giving the HU enough time to acquire the Satellite signals. With my experience I know that it takes several minutes to lock into all the signals successfully. When power is first applied to the unit, it reports that all the satellites are week, and at times not visible, but if you give it enough time, lets say 5 minutes, it miraculously reports that it has acquired all signals with a strong connection.

Posted Jan 21, 2009 · 03:26 UTC#22

not that wasnt the solution either i alway let the car run 5 to 10 mins before pulling off cuz i let it warm up but it still says "gps signal lost"!!! i dont understand what it could be and while it seems as if im the only one on here having this problem..its really starting to make me get a different unit one where the nav runs by the cd's ..:(
