First off, I don't know if it matters, but it was about -5 to -10 below over night, anyways, I went out and let the car warm up for 10-15 mins. When I went out, it said "can not read hdd" on a black screen, and it wouldn't let me go into any menus, etc. Well I reset it, and it will let me listen to FM/AM but there is no sound if I go to xm, or library or put on a cd, I am still putting cd's onto the hdd, and it still records them. BTW it is a hdd from Garrett, and i've only had it for about 2 months or so. If anyone can let me know how to fix this, or what is wrong with it, I would really appreciate it. This is the first time that this has happened.

Try to reset after the cabin warms up a bit.

What does the screen show? I've had mine when it was too cold, and it just had a black screen with the FM station in the bottom corner of the screen... I let the cab warm up, then I shut everything down, and powered back up, and it booted like normal...

How can you tell that it's recording the disc?

If it's booting to the normal OS, and you're getting "cannot read HDD" (doesn't make sense), and there is no sound on anything but the FM.... then I would thik that something bad has happened...

-A black screen with only FM means it's just too cold...

-A cannot read HDD usually just sits on that error and does nothing else, which usually is a sign that the HDD has failed...

-If it's booting to the OS, and only the FM works, then that means your HDD is fine(as half of the OS is on the HDD) and there is some other hardware related issue...

You issue almost sounds like a combination of all of that... which is kinda weird...

Well at first it was a black screen, and it said can't read hdd, then when it warmed up, I restarted it, and it went to the regular os, and I can see the R that it is recording, and I can go into the cd dash and see it recording, but just FM/AM works, also I typed in an address, and the voice prompt was working, but still no sound on xm, cd, or library. and I haven't done anything to it since I got the hdd from garrett except rip cds onto it, I haven't did any modding myself to it, It suppose to be 35-40 tommorrow, so I'll go from there

Did you try changing your Antenna Control setting to power and see if you get sound from the other sources?
