if anyone can help..im looking for a dash kit for my 2003 gti i cant seem to find one and i dont know if i wana make one out of fiberglass

you need to check a VW forum, they would know more about that specific model and its dash kit options

Are you sure you have enough room to mount a double DIN deck ?

So the "what fits my car" pages at www.crutchfield.com couldn't help? They claim that the 2003 VW Golf GTI is a Euro-DIN.

"Euro-DIN" stereos attach from the front through the 2" tall rectangular hole in the dash, sliding into a metal sleeve that attaches to the front of the dash.

That sure sounds like it'd be a lot of work, most of us are installing the Pioneer's into a DoubleDIN where we know it fits.

if you remove the pocket if will be a perfect doudle din opening. the vw's do not use a slide-in cage they have metall tabs that secure the din radio in. you need to get a set of euro radio removal keys to pull your radio out.

However you will need to cut the ABS platic that separates the radio opening from the pocket opening, use an airsaw if its available. finally you will need to purchase the double din install kit from Pioneer because Avic only comes fitted for Asian vehicles or American vehicle with the appropriate kit.
