iPod Volume Issue

My iPod 120 GB (latest generation) works great with my f90bt except for the volume. It's significantly lower than the other sources. Even with the SLA at 4, I have to turn the volume up to 62 just to get an average volume. My CD at 25 is equal to the iPod at 62. My CD at 40 shakes the neighborhood.

I adjusted the volume limit on the iPod to the max but I don't think that effects the line-out level. I'm using the Apple composite cable connected to the Apple universal dock.

Has anyone else had this problem and is there a work around? I love using my iPod, especially with the f90bt, but the crazy low volume is a problem.

Thanks!

Try setting "sound check" on the iPod.

I tried sound check both on and off. 'On' normalizes the music which actually lowers the level on most of my songs. It does boost the older, lower recorded tracks, but not by much. Thanks for the suggestion though... I'm open to any input!

Could it be the universal dock? In order to test, I'd have to dismantle the center console. I could also swap the composite cable to rule that out while I have it apart. I was really hoping to avoid that!

I used a second generation nano originally and had the same problem. A friend said that the Classic had a line-out volume control but I can't find it! I think he was mistaken...

Before ripping your center console apart, try pulling the deck out and checking the pins on the AV input harness to ensure they are all seated correctly and none of them are pulling out. My front-left negative was pulling out of the harness, and that speaker volume was low when using my ipod, but normal for everything else.

If they seem fine, try a new cable, you dont have to run it to test it, just leave it loose.

Where did you get this "universal" dock? I don't use one, and my volume is fine...

I have the same problem with my Ipod touch 2nd gen. The volume is horrible you can barely hear anything, I notice that the volume control on the head unit does nothing. I can turn it all the way up or all the way down and it doesn'y change. I have the volume all the way up on the Ipod and have the apple composite video cable for the F900BT. Anyone have and fix this problem?

Something bigger is wrong if the head unit doesn't adjust ipod volume, and the first thought I have is that you didn't change AV1 to "ipod" the second thought is you've changed something in the SLA settings.

You shouldn't be able to adjust the volume on the ipod/iphone itself since its in docked mode.
