For anyone interested, I emailed pioneer asking if there were going to be firmware &/or map updates. Here was the response.

When we are lucky, Pioneer fixes problems. But new features, better options....they call that "the next line". Why give it to you for free, when they can use it as motivation to sell you another $1000 unit?

Good Point. oh well..its pretty good as is, and the great people on this forum make it better with all the mods.

You do realize that the word of a person in customer support only means "there isn't an update now, or in the next month or so" right?

Customer Support agents are rarely aware of the more detailed plans for products that are going on behind the scenes, and that includes future update plans.

oh yeah i'm sure that guy wasn't in the "know" but at least we know there will be map updates...unless he was BSing about that.
