Ok i got a rear view cam on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mini-Bac ... 026698997I wanted this one because it is small and gave me more options for mounting.

it was very easy to install. I just removed the plastic tailgate lip. drilled a hole, and inserted the camera. Oh yea and of course i wired it in too. lol

I got power from the factory tow hitch plug. It has an acc switched 12v, its the black wire if anyone is interested. If you have a gm factory tow connector you have to make sure you have the fuse under your hood installed. It comes from the factory with a blank in the spot but my fuse was taped to the harness in the glovebox.

ok thats power.

I routed my rca cord through a subframe rail right with the existing factory wiring. this was very easy and convienient.

There is a spot in most gm trucks on the floorboard where the e brake cable passes. I used this to bring my rca into the truck. its about 4 inches infront on the drivers seat and about 4 inches to the left of that. Its easy to get to, just pull the door sil, and then lift up the carpet.

ok here are the pics.

Looks good Jeff

I wish I had something easy to drill into like you did... I have to drill the hole into the body of the car :? and the one I bought it a centimeter bigger than yours  I'm trying to exchange it, but it means I won't get to install it for another 2 weeks.

Oh well, you really need one on your truck; at least in mine I can sort of see the bumper, I'm installing it because its cool more than because I need one. :o

Nice setup. Pretty clean too.

Sportsfan- why not just grab a unibit, they're great for drilling larger holes nicely in all kinds of materials.

well the camrea was $38, the shipping was $12, and the rca cable was $8. I have $58 dollars total in the whole setup.

Try Radioshack. The one near me has a 12 ft RCA cable for $6.99

Could we possibly get a pic of what the on screen image looks like from the camera at night?

Thanks,

i got the cable at wally world. Its your standard 25 audio rca with 2 sides. I guess if you wanted you could get a shorter one and use a connector and put trhe two together. for my truck i used the whole 25 foot section. i only had about a foot or less left over but my truck is very long. so alot of vehicles may only need 12-17 feet.

and also i will try to put up some night time shots of the screen

nice link.

can you clearify some stuff.

on the link i saw in the night vision section, a 6.0mm and 2.8mm what is the difference? which one is better? are these two the ones i should be looking at to buy?

also i wanted make sure which one is the rear vision and one for the front vision?

i am basically looking for:
1 rear vision, night vision, with wide angle
1 front vision, night vision, with wide angle
