My current project is to re-assign the "Fit to screen" button in the route information screen to become a "Delete route" button. Ive managed to rename the button and get it to delete the route, but Im at a loss as to how I can get the button to react the same way as the button in the Destination menu. That is to say I would love for it to ask for confirmation. I would also like for a confirmed delete to send me back to the map screen.

Any help or interest would be greatly appreciated.

Try this. I tested it on my unit.

Comment out this from from your route800_480 file:

and place this under it:

USE_SEPARATED_SAFETY_MODE=1>

You want to keep the old script in case you later decide to revert back.

What this will do is prompt you and return back to navigate screen. The cursor will also center on the screen. Good Luck.

Thanks a bunch. I got the confirmation to pop up to cancel, just never found the code to get it to go back to the map once confirmed. Im assuming this does so? Time to test it out i suppose

This is what brings it back to the screen: nextstate st_NavigateMap

Oh, don't forget to add whatever text you want. I doubt you want to use what I tested it with.

I already had the button renamed. I just had to add the "nextstate st_NavigateMap" to the code I had figured out on my own.

Good job!!!!

Does it work as you envisioned?

Have yet to test it. I have to run to the store, so Ill report back after

I tested it. It works great with one thing left to fix, which is entirely my fault for not specifying beforehand. When it returns to the map it does not return to the current GPS position, but rather to the destination.

I've returned mine back to the way I had it and won't have time to try this out until late this week.

Try this instead:

USE_SEPARATED_SAFETY_MODE=1>

If this doesn't work return it to the other script and hit the map button to clear the cursor and return to current gps position.

You may want to try that first to see if it's good as is.

I was doing that during my test.

Ill try the new code in the morning. Too cold to be running back and forth from the parking lot.

Thanks again for all of your help so far

Success! The re-assigned button works exactly as I hoped it would

Was it the last code that did it, or did you make other changes?

This is just the start. Now you'll be hooked.

Good job.

Good job.

The last code made the difference.

And I was already hooked. Before this I did about half a dozen established hacks and some custom button icons to go with some of them. This unit is a ton of fun to play with.
