Iphone being read, but no sound coming through

When I connect my Iphone to the AVIC-F90BT the phone is recognized, and the avic says the music's playing, but there's no sound coming from the speakers. I'm at a loss. Does anyone know what might be wrong?

Did you read that part in the manual that says you must change AV1 to ipod?

well then it has to be he didn't switch the av1 to ipod
