I got maps DVD from Pioneer when I purchased their audio system. I want to take a backof the the maps DVD which itself has a size 7.24 GB ...how should I go about taking a backup?
I only have the regular 4.7GB blank dvds..I have the AVIC D3X..

You are right. I used IMGBURN to grab the images from the MAPS dvd. It created 3 files on my hard drive ..I01,I02 and MDS. When I used IMGBURN to burn these files back to a empty 4.7gb dvd it said I need over 7 gb blank discs...so now I am looking for a good deal on double layer discs

You can get some of the double layer dvds at your local electronic store, bad thing is they only come in 25 or more lol. I used Nero Start Smart and had no issues with the maps, I know some people have used imgburn software before but I had Nero in my library already.
