OK first off I have searched and found no help for this one. I just installed a d2 in my 02 xterra. I did the bypass ( both wires) and my nav and everything work fine all the time. I can change to my AV while im driving but i get a little warning first time(i think its a message your supposed to get). Yesterday I tried to hook up my PS2 to the AV input, to no avail. I get sound but the picture looks like its one channel off (or like a cable channel you dont subscribe to. I can see a little here and there but i hear it fine. Has anyone run into this problem? Did I miss Something? I have the video out on th ps2 going to av in.

Had the same problem with mine at one point. Turned out to be a bad a/v cable for the ps2. Have you tried swapping that cable?

how are you powering the ps2 in the car?

Right now i have an inverter that i use for my laptop. But i just ordered the dc adapter for it (slim ps2) to see if that helps. Doyou think that could be the problem?

Could be. Try running it off an extension cord from house power and see if that corrects the problem. If the video looks ok then it's definately your inverter.

also go to setup up and make sure the av is on

I have the av on in the settings. I have not tried the power cord though thats not a bad idea. i am out of town now but i will try when i get back. Does anyone here have a ps2 hooked up to their D2?

I have a PS2 hooked up to my AVIC 9. There were issues in the beginning with static/wrong channel looking noise. This was solved by placing a sort of "grouding" wire on each of the RCA inputs to make contact with the brain of the unit. I am not sure if this will help on the D2.. but it's worth a try.. I will try to get some pics up explaining what I mean later.

It involves a small piece of 22ga or smaller wire (insulated with ends stripped) that you kind of place on the RCA female as you plug the male in.. so that it hangs out, then taping the end (stripped again) to the body of the unit. An odd workaround, but a workaround just the same.

Good call on the grounding wire. I grounded a wire from my video in to the chassis of the D2 and it worked. My picture is still not perfect but I can live with this. Did yours turn out perfect Bzz? Cause i was expecting a little better.

Did you ever try the extension cord thiing? I've seen power inverters cause some noise in the video signal because it's not ouputing true ac voltage.

No i didnt try that but i bought a dc/dc converter for the ps2.

How much was that and where'd you get it? Been thinking of making one, but if I can get one premade cheaper I'll go that route instead.

Well first off I have a Slim PS2 so it is different than the older ones, It has an external ac/dc converter insead of in the ps2 itself. I bought a slim ps2 dc/dc converter for about $15-$20 shipped on ebay. I can't remember exactly how much but it works well. My nest step is to cut the cigarette lighter plug off the end and hard wire it.
