Does anyone know if the V710's bluetooth works with the AVIC-Z1?

I have done a seem edit to my V710 using superwombat's 041A seem. I just have'nt had a chance to try it with an AVIC-Z1. I would like to make sure it works before I order one.

TIA

I have a V710 with the superdave firmware loaded. Don't know what the seem edit is, probably the same thing. But it DOES work with the Z1. The bluetooth isn't as cool as a Parrot CK3100, but it does work.

Are you able to access the phonebook on the phone through the Z1?

I do believe that Superdave's is the same as Superwombats. I am with Telus and I think you are with Verizon.

Why is the bluetooth on the Z1 not as good as the Parrot.... Quality? Features?

Thanks

Yes, I'm Verizon.

No you have to load your own phonebook with the Z1. The parrot you access your phone's phonebook.

I think the audio quality is better with the Parrot.

The Z1 bluetooth interfaces better with the head unit, no seperate screen or anything, but the interface itself is based off of it's own programming and system. And doesn't even pause the CD playing. But with the Parrot (it doesn't pause the cd either) but it is basically a wireless link into your phone. like using the "say a command" button only wirelessly.

So the V710 connects fine with the AVIC-Z1?

I have been to a couple of places that have the Z1, but no one has the BT unit hooked up so I can't test it.

When it sync's with the HU does the voice dialing work fine? Also is there a screen to manually enter the phonebook info?

Sorry for all the questions I just want to be sure I am buying the right unit.

I have thought about the eclipse model and then just using the parrot ck3100.... but I think I a leaning towards the AVIC-Z1

Oh yah, the connection via bluetooth is rock solid. I miss the parrot link to the voice commands with the phone. But the Avic has other voice commands. They are ok, but not right to the name. I think you can tell it to go to your phone book and then select the number from the Avic's phone book. Not great. But you can pick up the phone, dial a number and close the phone and the Z1 picks it up automatically. Something I didn't realize it did till tonight.

I don't know if anyone will let you test it like that, you can program 5 phones into the Z1, and you can't get them out. To get them out you have to reset the whole radio to factory defaults.

You don't get voice dialing with the Z1, you get the Z1's voice integration. Not the phone's. You tell the Z1 what to do and it dials or does whatever. It's not aweful, but not as phone specific as the phone itself. The parrot is "stupid". It just links to the phone like a bluetooth headset would, any voice dialing with the parrot would be due to the fact voice dialing is implimented in the phone itself. And the V710 is really good, but the E815's voice dialing is excellent. The Z1 has voice commands to control the radio and bluetooth features, but I don't think it has as much control as the voice commands in the V710 itself.

Yes, you can manually enter numbers into the Z1. It will hold 400 entries.

no biggie, I ran with the CK3100 for a while and loved it. The eclipse units were also a top contender. But I wanted the 6600. I think that the Z1 has it beat with the integrated bluetooth, it speaks the streat names to you, the eclipse only says "turn right". And the Z1 has the hard drive and the nifty flash your headlights feature :)
