sorry if that question seems to be stupid, but why pioneer don't give all the roads of some countrys ?

for exemple, i'm concerned with ex-yugoslavia, and there is some town ( not villages ) that are not mentionned in the avic ?

so does that mean, that "economically" it's not interestin for pioneer to invest in "complet" map or why ? ( affraid to walk on a mine ? )

it's just that, because, most of the other european roads are quite clear and well shown with panel arrows...not in the est south europe...

i joke a little by posting that, because anyway, it's good to have the main roads in the avic, but in years 2009...it's curious to not have all the roads in some areas...

PS: if pioneer got a "tracker" a can help them to get more roads in balkan area ( we don't need 3D maps...still under construction, even if in most places we can't imagine there was a war, everything new...)

Pioneer does not do any mapping. Tele Atlas and Navteq do, and I guess former Yugoslavia (and generally Eastern Europe) were lower on their list of priorities. When they get around to generating complete maps, Pioneer and other GPS manufacturers will include them...

that was one of the option i was thinkin, but "funny" that for exemple austria map is complete, and between austria and greece nothing ( just main road...finally as you said Boris, the minimum "priority" )

thanks anyway Boris

You're welcome.

Austria (or Greece) has been more of a Western country for far longer, so they had time to do the mapping -- it is rather expensive and time-consuming process. They have to look at hoew many people could/would buy maps, what the legal restrictions are (I don't know about ex-Yugoslavia, but say in Russia you could not do accurate mapping of certain locations for security reasons) etc. I assume that eventually there will be mapping there.

Also, there theoretically might be maps from other producers. I believe that for Hungary, Top Map (majority owned by NavNGo) does mapping themselves. They might even do mapping of Yugo, or so it seems...
