I just recently purchased and had installed an AVIC-F700BT. The unit doesn't switch to night mode when I turn on the headlights. It automatically switches from day to night and back to day at 7PM and 7AM. Why is it doing this? Is there any setting that I can use to change this? I am sure that the shop that installed my AVIC connected it correctly. I have a 2007 Nissan Maxima with the Metra NIRD-01 to retain the temp.d.t.e/ave m.p.g/ave m.p.h.

sounds like they didnt connect the illumination wire to the right source. it may need to be run directly to the headlamp switch (this is a common method) to get the right signal. if you decide to do it yourself, your looking for a wire that has 12 volts only when the headlamps are on. and the wire it needs to be connected to is the orange wire labeled "illumination" on the avic's plug.
