Does anyone know if - now that the merger is mostly complete - it is possible to receive XM Navtraffic over the Sirius antenna?
XM NavTraffic over Sirius Antenna
The sirius addon rx does not support XM traffic. You can connect the Sirius antenna to the XM Nav Traffic RX and it will work.
So I would have to buy the XM + Sirius package from XM to get sat radio plus navtraffic? I can't wait to see what new hardware they start coming out with.
I also can't wait for my 15k shares to reach even a dollar ![]()
You can get just XM (with best of Sirius) and NAV Traffic. You would not need to have the Sirius tuner also...
My apologies, the way I worded that question was really fucking stupid. ![]()
What I MEANT was... I prefer Sirius, but I know their traffic service doesn't work on the Z series. So what I was asking was if Sirius/XM had somehow incorporated the exact same system on each side in order to save money, and if so if I could just get navtraffic... I don't know. I'm still sounding like an idiot.
To be honest garret, you answered my question. I had a sneaking suspicion they hadn't fixed this annoyance (and probably never will).
So basically, since Sirius Traffic doesn't work on the Z series, and I'm stubborn and want Sirius instead of XM (they had XM at a gym I used to work at and I hated it) BUT also want some kind of NavTraffic capability, I'll have to install tuners for both and just sign up for the standalone NavTraffic from XM. I've researched this before and knew that this was the solution most people went for in the past but tbh that is a real pain in the ass, not to mention you have to pay double for the equipment.
I suppose I made this thread to see if anyone knew if they had melded the two together. You'd think they would, since they use the same provider, they would just go with one signal for both customer bases.
I swear to God, this all makes sense in my head. ![]()
(And I realize this problem is more based on the Pioneer hardware not picking up the Sirius Traffic signal, shame on Pioneer for that.)
I gotcha now!! If you already have the XM tuner, you should give it a shot now they have combined channels. Most of the good Sirius stuff is available on XM now. The interface on the Z is much nicer with XM than Sirius, espeically if you are using Vandal's channel logo updates.
I looked into the XM Everything + Best of Sirius package and I gotta be honest, I was highly impressed. I noticed some of their music channels are on Sirius but aren't labeled as being so (Liquid Metal is one of the main ones that comes to mind right now). Thanks for your advice garret, I never would have thought about even LOOKING at XM (that's how much I hated it) before you chimed in. I'm now strongly considering just getting the package from XM. Cheers! ![]()
