It looks like Pioneer is coming out with a new dual microphone on their DEH-P710BT. I'm thinking it should work better and should work with the F series.

since we're already talking about mic's, has anyone tried using a different mic for their unit? i know that the plug is 2.5 but i can't seem to find a decent mic that i could use for my unit,

wow, that one blows twice as hard!

(and yes, other mics are possible... there are some topics where I've posted my experience with a Nokia MFH-8)

This looks like the mic on the Parrot "beanforming" bluetooth kits, I've attached a link below. The two mics work together to cut out background noise somehow, I don't know how it works but Parrot is supposed to have the best BT kits on the market. Has Pioneer licensed the Parrot BT technology? I know Kenwood did recently... The Parrot kits with this mic also allow A2DP streaming stereo via bluetooth, that would be pretty cool.

F-series does use Parrot bluetooth kits... not that they worked all that well there, of course...

I have done a few Parrot kits with the dual mics. They work incredibly well, with amazing noise cancellation.

i just bought a garmin microphone for my f 90 i just installed it yesterday and am hoping to try it out today. the garmin mic is the exact same one that the parrot bt kits use.i think they just repackage the parrot microphone. i also have a newer parrot kit, the mk6100 and it has the dual mic like the pioneer one.

but here's the one i bought for my f90...hopefully it works better!

Parrot's not the only one to do this. It's called an array microphone, and they offer the most amazing noice cancellation anywhere, because they're able to target sounds and only pic up noises coming from directly in front of them. I've been trying to figure out how to set one up with my avic for awhile now, and now I don't have to! I want one of these!

I've used this mic for the PC before, and it really does wonders.

Can someone confirm if it has a four pin jack? Because the stock pioneer on the f700bt has a 2 pin jack...

Too bad this calls for opeing the unit back up...after installing and tweaing two of mine and one for a friend, I have little interest in reopening anytime soon.

Looks like the same design as the array microphone that comes with some Asus motherboards, but it has a different plastic shell. If it is the same core product, it's good.

Is the noise cancelling built in to the "array microphone" or does the jack just have 3 or 4 pins for BOTH the both microphones and let the headunit sort the noise out..... former would be better to upgrade the old AVICs..... maybe someone with the Parrot PARROT MKi9200 kit can confirm?? (it has same microphone, as Pioneer just use Parrot OEM stuff)

Anyone tried this microphone on an F series yet, or confirm if it is the two band jack?
