Bypassed Z2 and ND-BC2 Backup camera issue

I just installed an ND-BC2 backup camera in my bypassed Z2 and I'm having a small issue that I'm hoping somebody here can help with.

The camera seems to be working fine in the aspect that when the car is placed in reverse it automatically displays the backup camera view, but it doesn't stay there for too long. Every 3 seconds or so the camera view flashes back to the normal screen (depending of the mode the Z2 was on at that time, i.e. iPod, map, startup, etc) for about 1 second and goes back to the backup camera view, continuing to cycle through these screens.

Anybody has an idea of what could be happening here? I didn't install either the Z2 and/or the camera, both were done professionally at a local shop and Best buy respectively so I wouldn't know about the connections, but your help might give me enough information to go back to either establishment and have them tak a loook at it again.

Thanks in advanced

Does it only change WHILE backing up, or even when you are perfectly stopped?

It only happens when I put the car in reverse, while stopped (in reverse gear) and backing up. I configured the map view to display the backup camera/map hybrid and that doesn't flash to a different screen, on Park and Drive the unit works fine.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Thanks,

It almost sounds like your reverse wire is connected to your VSS wire (or brake light wire). See if you VSS is working.

The VSS wire is definitely not connected, I checked that on Menu>Settings>Hardware. Unfortunately the local shop didn't do it when I installed the unit (something I need to take care of).

I really doubt that the installer at Best Buy didn't know what wire to connect it to, but it is possible. Now if the wire connected to the unit is the VSS, the signal would avtivate the camera as soon as the shifter is changed to reverse?

Does the camera give a good image continuously if you change the view to 'rear view''?

If so, then the problem is with the reverse wire from the Z. Go to the hardware connection screen and watch the "reverse" setting while 1. driving normal and 2. while backing up in reverse.
