Maybe I'm stupid, maybe I'm a little naive - but what the heck is a speedcam? Is it just what it sounds like? If you're speeding, your picture is taken and you get a ticket in the mail?
Is this a UK thing? I work in Los Angeles, and I always thought that if there was something wacky with anything related to traffic, I would encounter it in my commute - but I have never seen one of these things...

There are far more of them in Europe, but quite a few are being installed in the US now as well (great revenue generators) although here they tend to be more red light cameras. Fortunately, iGO supports all of them, as long as you have a good data of their locations...

Well I should slow down!! Where on earth are they? I KNOW that there are a lot of red-light cams, but I really don't think I've ever encountered a speedcam here...
Hell, they are everywhere here in Houston. i actually didn't realize it but there is a company that operates these things for the citys and gets a huge cut (like 70%) of the ticket. Crazy.
I have always thought how fun it would be to sit in a stealth location and just shoot those things full of holes from a distance with a 22 and watch them explode.LOL Just my warped mind working overtime I guess.

I think that's why in UK they now have camerads watching speed cameras... People were taking baseball bats to them too often... xD
Baseball bat? Now thats funny!!! We need some video of one of these guys beatin' the hell out of a camera because he got a ticket from one. It could make youtube's top ten!
