F700bt reboots on bluetooth connection

Just installed my F700bt with the hardware bypass. Like everything about it except that it reboots as soon as it connects with my phone (a HTC Touch WM6 smartphone). Sometimes after the reboot it can connect to my phone and not reboot again, and I can make or receive calls. Sometimes it takes several reboot cycles before it stabilizes. If I turn bluetooth off, everything else works just fine.

I searched the forum and found a couple similar problems. I did the "delete devices and re-pair" trick, but it didn't work for me. I also tried installing the jetwaremobile software on my phone. Didn't fix it either.

Since when it connects and not reboots, all phone futures work. So I am thinking it may not be a software problem. Am I getting a unit with a defective bluetooth component? I know from previous experience that some defective components need some initial crashes to "warm up" to the work.

There is the only (but rather major issue) I have with the unit. I appreciate any help you may provide. Thanks!

I am going to try the bluetooth connection with another phone, to see if the problem is specific to the phone I am having. Question for F-Series users, what bluetooth phone are you using that work 100% with your unit?

guess i wanted to give an update on this thread. i tried it with my wife's new phone, moto krave, (nice phone by the way), same problem. the unit is now on the way to service.

i am waiting for it to come back and the problem be gone, so i am not completely give up on it yet. but gee... doi wish i had not bought this thing? you bet!

Well, I thought I was having a different reboot problem than the other F series users. The problem may be different, but the solution is the same.

So I got my unit back on Monday, 7 days after I sent it back. While I acknowledge that poineer actually turned it around quickly, all they did was simply "reloaded the software". When I saw that on paper, I immediately thought that I could have PMed another gsxr 1k and achieve the same purpose. It would cost me less, and would not take that long.

To give poineer credit, they did fix it. Both phones connected with no problem, no reboot. That was, until I again transfered my contacts to the unit. Then it started to reboot on connection, back to ground zero. But, I was not panicing this time. It was too late at night to PM someone and expect a quick reply, so I went with the "rapidshare" route. After paying $6, I became a 3-day premiere user and downloaded 1.6G of data... Thanks minifreezer for uploading the files.

At the end of my story, the bluetooth connection is working, and the unit has an empty phonebook. Later on, I will edit the phonebook manually using the software mentioned in another thread. I hope that would not cause it to reboot. But now, I just need to give myself a break from this thing.

Thanks for reading.

You are welcome and glad i could help. Don't quote me on this but i beleive i have read somewhere that another person was haveing the same prob and it turned out that they had special charcters in the contact names. Took the characters out and it worked fine. Not saying that is your prob but it was worth looking at. Good luck.

I'm having this same issue using an iPhone 3G. When I removed the pair, it removed the contacts too, so I don't know where to go from here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem too, although mine only reboots sometimes. I hope they release another firmware update to fix this.
