Hi I'm new on here and I just got a new avic-700bt from Best Buy. I just got the CTI mod (I think) and it's alot better than the factory settings. I'm still a little confused on a few things though. I'm sorry if these questions have already been answered but I can't seem to find the answers and I'm sure there's alot of noobs like me who are a little confused about some of this stuff. Thanks alot in advance.

1) Can the video bypass be done without any rewiring? If not what is the easiest way to do it?

2) How do the custom display pics work? Is it only on start up?

3) After I install the CTI mod is there any other mods I should intall?

4) How does the bluetooth work? I'm not sure why I can't get my krazer phone paired with the deck.

5) Is there any other easy user friendly mods I should do?

Hi and welcome. I'm relatively new here too so I'm not sick of all these questions YET. I'm sure some of the guys that have been her awhile certainly are.

But anyway, to answer your questions (or try)

1. There is a software bypass and a hardware bypass. The software bypass is included in a few of the mods here. The hardware bypass is pretty easy too and there are lots of good write-ups here. From my understanding it does not hurt to have them both done. Myself, for example started with the hardware bypass when I first installed the unit, but with CMH's mods that i have he includes the software bypass as well.

2. These are splash screens and yes they are only displayed at start up. With the new 2.0 firmware these pictures aren't visible for long, but I'm sure before the firmware update they were there for awhile.

3. I think you mean GTI mod (GTIMatt), and it's all up to you. Look for great things coming from the hands of Leetcoder, I'm especially excited about this guy's work.

4. Bluetooth works well for me, all except for A2DP. The Krazr should work, just make sure to follow the instructions from your phone manual and your avic's.

5. The CMH mod (CMH928) is very easy to do. He has incorporated the test mode installer and it's so easy a caveman could do it. BUT BACK UP YOUR "My Flash Disk" first BEFORE doing anything.

Search is your friend. Have fun.

Thanks for the great reply! I'm sorry it's the CMH noob friendly mod. I'm a little confused how come there is a testmode and a metamode. I installed the testmode and it works great except I still can't watch movies without the ebrake on. Do I still need to install the metamode? Should I just disconnect my ebrake somehow to trick it? I don't want to uninstall my deck just to do the mod if I don't have too because I'll probably break something. I would also like to get the steering wheel control adapter from best buy that they forgot to mention I needed. Also what is the best way to upload movies onto the deck? Is it possible to fast forward through them or no? Thank you all very much for your help. It is greatly appreciated.

No matter which bypass you do, the P. Brake wire MUST be grounded.

Sorry but how do I find my ebrake wire to ground?

Okay I just saw the wiki thing. So I do need to uninstall my deck to ground the parking brake wire from the deck. Right? That sucks. I wish Best Buy would have told me that.

Soem installers may do the bypass. But I can tell you if I was an installer I would be hesitant to do so for fear of litigation if you were invovled in an accident. I don't know what kind of vehicle you have, but the hardest part of ripping out a deck sometimes is taking the dash off, other than that...piece of cake.

Sorry guys I'm still confused. Do I just cut the long green parking brake wire and ground it? Or do I need to do something with the mute wire too?

Yes Ground the green wire. Yes you need to do the mute wire as well. Use the search function at the top of the page....it will help you figure things out like this simple bypass.

That depends if you are doing the hardware bypass then yes you have to move and ground the mute wire, but if you are doing the software bypass you just have to ground the parking brake.
