Hi,

I am in a bit of an inconvenience, so maybe you guys can help. This might have been answered before, but I couldn't find a post with my specific problem, so please be kind.

I bought a used car with an AVIC-D2 installed. The guy I got it from did not give me the original firmware CD/DVD because he couldn't find them, but the unit came with a burned disk from 2007 (so 70MT?) of the West Coast. It was working just fine till I was an idiot  and changed the language to French when I was driving in Canada. It did a little rain dance and updated itself and was working absolutely fine in French. Then when I tried to change it back to English, it gave me the aforementioned "Please insert appropriate disc" error. I am downloading the 80MT disc and can buy it on ebay for $20, but I need to know if any of these will work, or if there is something else I need to do.. I've already tried to reset it and nothing! Plays CDs and MP3s just fine.. no navi though. Please help. :?

I had this issue when i tried to use burned disc, as far as i know the only way to fix this would be to get the original disc's.... i did some searching on here a while back and found steps after you have the original disc on how to reset the headunit. Basically it involves you going into the service menu and deleting the info for the burned disc.. then selecting the original disc.

sorry i know it's not helpful but i just though i'd share my experience w/ this issue. thanks
