When I connect my iphone3g to my f90 it does not recognize it, the usb icon on the head unit stays greyed out. I have tried with the cable from apple as well, same deal. As soon as I plug my regular ipod in it finds it right away. My iphone have version 2.2.1(5H11) firmware. I am dying to get this working so I can use slacker through my iphone instead of the lame mini jack out the front and a seperate car charger. I am out of ideas.

Thanks for any help you can give.

When my phone drops out, you have to restart the phone, and the head unit by using the reset button, (little hole button by the eject)

that usually fixes it, unless of course it never worked. Have you tried hooking your phone up to the computer to rule out a bad interface? You did say the head unit hook up works with another ipod so that rules out the cable, usb port and head unit.

FWIW it's not an issue across the board, my 3G works just fine.

Did you reset the unit and restart the phone? Do you have a case on your iphone that might make it not plug in far enough?

Did it work in the past then stopped working? rule out any changes you made,

Its not in a case, as far as I remember it has never worked. I am thinking of reflashing the headunit for the hell of it.

Same thing happened to me, and it turned out my pioneer cable was junk.

Test the cable by using the regular Apple sync cable plugged into the Avic's USB port. If it pops up in the Avic's menu, then you have a crap A/V cable. (like I did)

I bought a used Apple A/V cable off of ebay for $30.00, and it works every time.
