Touchscreen issue?

Hi folks, this is actually my first post on this forum. I've been reading up on the wealth of info that is in this forum for some time now...but I didn't want to bother anyone without good reason. Well now I have a reason.

My wife and I both have F700's. Mine has worked perfectly for four months now. Her's is about three weeks old and has a major issue. Keep in mind these are both factory stock units, no hacks or mods of any kind attempted. I never even tried test mode until today, AFTER the problem surfaced. Her F700 will boot up (apparently normally) until it reaches the navi warning screen...if you just hit OK once and do nothing else, it will load up the navi screen and work fine...you just can't do anything further. It's almost as if the touchscreen just stops working. The steering wheel controls work and music plays as normal, phone calls even come in...you just can't answer because touching the screen does nothing. I did alot of tinkering - tried using the reset button, tried re-installing the 2.0 update (unit shipped with the update already installed), tried going into testmode...but couldnt' do anything because no matter what, you get one click on the screen and then nothing else.

I'm thinking this is an actual hardware failure...but I thought i'd check with you folks just in case i'm wrong.

Sounds like a hardware failure --

I would take the unit back to the place of purchase (online site of purchase) and ask for a new unit. Who installed the unit?

I installed it, and i'm not sure what kind of return policy the site I got it from has. I will probably have to use the pioneer warranty and send it back. Yippee. You'd think when you pay big bucks for stuff like this, instead of paying 1/4th the price for the generic brand, that you are getting something actually BETTER than the generic brand. Guess even that's not the case now.

This surely is a dumb question on my part, but-- have you tried calibrating the screen? It's unlikely that it's that far off, but worth a shot...

Well the screen was perfectly calibrated one day, then the next day this bullshit happened. Now I can't get into the menus to calibrate it, so it's kind of irrelevant anyway. I did try clicking around the screen because that thought had crossed my mind, but I couldn't get any reaction out of it.
