is the GEX-P10XMT antenna different than a normal XM antenna

is there a difference? I got a GEX-P10XMT with no antenna and wanted to know if i could just get a normal antenna and it would be ok

As long as the antenna has a single pink plug, it will work fine.

I hope i dont get the terminology mixed up here, but I think you need an XM antenna with a Farka plug, not an SMB plug.

Right, the single pink Fakra connector is correct for the GEX-P10XMT and the GEX-P920XM, the Terk XMicro2 antenna and the antenna that comes with the Terk XMDirect tuner will also work.
