Hi all, first of all, sorry for my English. I have a F900(European model) and after using it 8 months ago, I am not happy with this system. The worst thing is the phone software and bluetooth hardware. The connection freezes with my iphone constantly. It can not sync contacts, missed, in-out calls, etc. as others handsfree systems (i.e. Parrot) when you connect. When you made a call, it can not recognise the contact you are calling...you know. And Pioneer does nothing...!!!

I have been reading some posts and everybody is modding his data.zip to improve navigation experience but as I think, no one is modding the phone software. I have some experience in visual basic programing and I would like to mod the phone software of this system. Anyone could help me and tell where to begin? wich file (like data.zip) has to be modified to mod it?

Thanks.

Phone interface is, actually, a Parrot unit, and the only software available for it are binary firmware updates. There is nothing like DATA.ZIP with scripts that can be modified by hand...

I do not understand if, as you say, the phone interface is from Parrot, how it can be so bad. It is horrible!!!

Because some companies do not value a QA department.

Because Pioneer did a hack job integrating it with the rest of the system...

Yes - I meant to place blame on Pioneer for a lack of integration testing. I'm sure that Parrot has a good product, but they didn't initially design it to be integrated into one unit with so many other capabilities. This one lies on Pioneer's shoulders.

Pioneer has to improve the system and bluetooth software, but it seems they will leave as it is to develop the new products because there are not important firmware updates lastly. As you say, the Parrot products are very good but the integration with this system and the software that controls it is very bad.

I will look at the firmware files to try to find some references to the phone software. In the data.zip file has to be some code because when you receive a call the system shows the map screen. Let's see...

That's what I thought, also - but haven't had a chance to look into it yet. They could have possibly set APL2 to have a lower priority than the Parrot stuff, and maybe the Parrot stuff actually draws a full screen overlay on top of whatever was already running...

Not necessarily... Parrot's software might be simply bringing iGO to the front, and then doing its own overlay on top of it.
