Hello,

I have a little problem with my avic Z1 I bought it for my 04 hatch 350z off ebay then ordered all the wiring and the double din install kit from crutchfield.

What’s going on is the face wont flip down so I can put a cd or dvd into it. it’s almost as if it’s getting stuck. Now I can just take the whole thing apart and dremel the edges of the plate so it WILL flip down or I didn’t do something correct during installation. If someone knows what the problem may be I’d greatly appreciate it.

Also I had the bose system without the navigation and it seemed a hell of a lot louder before I put the avix z1 in there? it’s almost as if when I’m driving 60+ with the windows down you can’t hear shit. Should I just hook up an amp to it or again did I wire something incorrectly.

Thanks a bunch

I had the same problems as you when I installed a z1 in my 2006 350z. When you mount the unit to the side braces only 2 holes will line up on each side so I'm assuming you used these spots to mount it; this pushes the top of the unit too close to the bezel in the dash and it jams up. What you need to do is put in the mounting screws on the bottom back two holes and then rotate the unit until you have good clearance and the unit will open. Then you can see how you will need to widen the opening for the other mounting holes in order to put in the other screws ( a dremmel works good for this ). The other problem of low sound is in the rca line converter that you would have had to purchase to install in a 350 with bose; on the top of the unit there should be level adjustments so just turn all of them clockwise all the way. This worked for me.
