They said that my 'dvd drive top is "loose"..and my warranty is void. The unit is an avic f900. Anyone heard of this happening? I did NOT open it or anything like that. Any suggestions? I am so mad. it is a 4 month old unit, covered under warranty supposedly. I got a 900 dollar warranty from fed ex.... i do not know if it was fed ex's fault or not. I am demanding more information from the tech, and will be fighting this. Anyone ever heard of this happening?
pioneer is saying my warranty is void!?
If you cannot get satisfaction....I would go straight to the State Attorney Generals office with a complaint (California - if you sent it to that facility). They are usually pretty good about getting involved in such things and often all it takes is an inquiry by those folks to a business and suddenly they become much more cooperative. I live in Washington and had an experience like yours with a company in New Jersey. One email and a week or two later and suddenly the supplier was much more cooperative. There is always the lawyer approach.....but that costs money.
There out to be some sort of better business bureau that can get involved as well....don't be bashful send them complaints. It is what they are there for.
Good luck.
Well, I got an email back, after two calls. Pioneer actually was quite fast about the response, although not too informative about the actual problem. They said "They could not determine if the unit was opened or damaged prior too, or during shipping so "this time" they would fix it, since no parts are needed. "I need to note, that in the future, If the unit is sent back, I would have too pay a servicing fee if it appears opened." The attitude was not appreciated, but it looks like this issue is resolved...for now. Thanks for your help, I do appreciate it. I was planning on calling some people if this was not fixed. Since it was in California, I know that wacky state would support the consumer. Man, so many people warned me NOT to get a pioneer, and while I love the unit, this headache was more then enough too make me wish I could have changed my mind when I purchased it. I just do not understand how the unit "appeared" to be opened. It makes no sense, unless when best buy installed it, I got a previously returned unit, or they did something. My only guesses. At least I will get it back in about a week I hope, and back too the modding I go!!!
